CL Inspection (Light Vehicle Certificate of Inspection) Gold Coast
From late 2017 the Personalised Vehicles Regulation is going to change to allow Approved Inspection Stations such as M1 Safety Certificates to complete Online Certificate Of Inspections for Ride Booking Operators including taxis.
The annual inspections can be conducted at either an Approved Inspection Station, on site by an Mobile Approved Inspection Unit or at a Queensland Transport and Main Roads Customer Service Centre.
With traditional taxi services on the Gold Coast changing with new options of vehicle services to the public the Queensland Transport Department has changed regulation to allow a more even playing field.
The drive behind the change is to deliver the general public a safer service for Gold Coast Taxi and Uber users.
From Monday 4th September 2017 vehicles that are intending to be registered as a booked hire/rental vehicle are able to use this service.
From October 1st 2017 vehicles either currently registered or intending to be registered as a taxi, limousine and special purpose limousine will be able to engage an Approved Inspection Station to conduct the inspection.
The types of vehicles affected will be:
Booked hire (BKHR)
Booked hire/rental (BKRN)
Taxi (TAXI)
Limousine (LIMO) or
Special Purpose Limousine (LSPL)
It is important to note that any other vehicle outside of these categories that are registered light vehicles that require COI (Certificate of Inspections) are not eligible for an AIS COI.
The vehicles that are not eligible are:
School Service Vehicles
Tourist and Airport Transfer Vehicles
Commercial Minibuses
